About the Montane Anti-Freeze

What is the Montane Anti-Freeze good for?

The Montane Anti-Freeze Jacket is specifically designed for alpine climbers and winter mountaineers who require exceptional warmth in harsh, cold conditions. Filled with 210g of 750+ fill power goose down, this jacket offers superior insulation, making it ideal for static activities such as belaying in freezing environments. The jacket’s windproof and water-resistant fabric, along with its climbing-specific features, provide the necessary warmth and flexibility for high-altitude adventures, ensuring protection from the elements during prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.

Who is the Montane Anti-Freeze good for?

This jacket is tailored for serious alpine climbers and mountaineers who need reliable insulation in cold, high-altitude environments. Its design is particularly suited for climbers who spend extended periods stationary during climbs, such as belayers, as well as those in need of a lightweight yet durable option for extreme weather conditions. The Anti-Freeze is for individuals who need a high-performance jacket that supports their climbing activities and provides warmth without compromising on mobility.

When and where should the Montane Anti-Freeze be used?

The Montane Anti-Freeze Jacket is perfect for use in cold, high-altitude environments, particularly during winter mountaineering and alpine climbing expeditions. It is designed to be worn in extreme weather conditions where warmth retention is crucial, such as when belaying, resting on a mountain, or facing the challenges of icy climbs. The jacket’s features make it ideal for use in harsh, alpine conditions, but its water-repellent finish also provides protection against light rain and wet snow, making it suitable for various mountainous terrains.

How will some of the key features of the Montane Anti-Freeze enhance my experience?

This jacket boasts 210g of 750+ fill power goose down for exceptional warmth retention. Constructed from Pertex Quantum, a highly windproof and durable fabric, it ensures that warmth is retained and prevents down from leaking through the material. The jacket also features a water-repellent finish to shed light rain. A three-point adjustable down-filled hood is designed to fit over a climbing helmet and can be rolled away during high winds. A two-way YKK reverse coil main zip with an internal storm flap provides protection against wind drafts. Articulated arms allow for unrestricted movement, while a zippered chest pocket is useful for storing items like route cards.

Why choose the Montane Anti-Freeze?

The Montane Anti-Freeze Jacket is an excellent choice for climbers and mountaineers who need a lightweight, high-insulation jacket to provide warmth in freezing conditions. Its combination of windproof, durable materials and high-quality goose down insulation ensures you stay warm during stationary periods in harsh alpine environments. The jacket’s climbing-specific features, such as its articulated arms and helmet-compatible hood, make it a functional and reliable piece of gear for those tackling extreme winter climbs. Additionally, the water-repellent finish adds an extra layer of protection, and its packability and ability to retain loft make it a convenient option for serious adventurers.

This is my third or fourth Montane anti freeze jacket. It doesn't feel as well filled as previous versions, time will tell if it's as warm. Well made and true to size, I particularly wanted one without a hood, so am very happy with the jacket obtained.
