The popular Volkl Kenja 88, the female-specific counterpart to the Kendo, is the leading all-mountain ski for women thanks to its excellent versatility and state-of-the-art features.
When it comes to the buffet of skiing, if you are a glutton who can't decide between groomers or powder, bumps or trees, then the Kenja 88 is the ski that can handle your hearty appetite. The impressive carving performance comes from the three different radii in the sidecut, known as the 3D Radius Sidecut design. Depending on speed and edge angle, the snow connects with a different part of the ski, supporting that specific turn by smoothly managing the terrain and forces.
The tip and tail rocker make any turn shape initiation more fluid, plus provide clearance when the slope becomes deep with powder or full of crud. The Kenja 88 is also built with a Titanal Frame and Carbon tips which provide stability without losing playfulness. The result of all of this is a ski that holds beautifully at high speeds while still remaining extremely lively.
Advanced riders will be able to take full advantage of the Kenja 88 skis, however, they're also a great choice for ambitious intermediates looking to progress their entire resort game.
To ensure the perfect ride on every length from 149 to 170 cm, Tailored Carbon Tips and a Tailored Titanal Frame have been integrated into the Kenja 88 for this season. What does that mean? The Tailored Titanal Frame which features in many Titanal Freeride models is an evolution of our well-known Titanal frame. In this design, the width of the Titanal upper belt can be adapted to the length of the ski; the resulting torsional stiffness and the desired damping behaviour can be adapted to the skier. The Titanal content is reduced in shorter skis, which means shorter and lighter skiers can get the most out of their skis without excessive effort. The new Tailored Carbon Tips make the Kenja 88 especially versatile.
Carbon fibres applied by means of Tailored Fibre Placement (TFP) allow Volkl's engineers to influence curve behaviour with great accuracy. The strength and alignment of the fibres define the force you need to apply and the energy that builds up where it’s needed. Agile shovel reaction is a feature of special note. This means that as soon as you initiate a turn, you can steer the ski in a measured, easy manner. In other words, simply think about changing direction – and it happens. This construction also allows means less weight without any loss of stability.
Also included in the new Kenja 88 with tip and tail rocker is Volkl's renowned multilayer wood core surrounded by a full sidewall and a P-Tex 2100 base, which only further enhance the crazy allure of this most versatile of freeride Volkl skis.
Full Sidewall - The specific synthetic substance of the entire sidewall enables a precise and direct power transfer
Multi-layer Wood Core - Use of two woods for different areas of the ski. Ash is used underfoot to provide stability and secure screw retention. Poplar at either end provides resilience and snap
Full Titanal - Titanal is a carefully engineered aluminium alloy which has an excellent tensile and yield strength. Full sheets of this metal support the wood core, dampen the ride, and stiffen the flex for added power and stability
Tip and Tail Rocker- Significant early rise in the tips and a slight rise in the tail. This profile is versatile and works in both powder and on the pistes, easy to ski whilst still stable at speed
3D Radius Sidecut- Three radii in one ski for maximum turning & speed versatility in all mountain skiing
P-Tex 2100 Base- A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability
Carbon Tips - Reduces the overall swing weight and manoeuvrability and improves float
Titanal Frame- Titanal is a carefully engineered aluminium alloy which has an excellent tensile and yield strength. A shaped sheet of this metal supports the wood core, dampen the ride, and stiffen the flex for added power and stability
