The design features a single, side entrance. Inner pitches first and can be used as a standalone shelter in warmer conditions with a No-See-Um mosquito mesh to keep out insects.

Inside, the Ionosphere has room for a single occupant and kit (or two people in an emergency). The practical design features a ripstop nylon fly and groundsheet with taped seams and PU waterproof treatment to 5000mm hydrostatic head.
