DMM has upgraded its legendary Dragon Cams to create an even better state-of-the-art cam that makes the most of every placement. The version 2 Dragon Cams have an increased contact area with a raw aluminum finish. The new patented TripleGrip cam lobes come with additional bite points and combine with the raw aluminum finish to increase the friction between the cam lobes and rock. This means the cams have greater holding power and reduced walking, particularly in slick or soft rock types or sub-optimal placements.
The Dragon cams are built on a single stem with a dual axle design offering 360° flexibility and a large expansion range. This makes them more forgiving in fall scenarios where the rock formation prevents the cam is placed in the direction of the load. Dragons feature a firm but flexible stem that will maximize your placement options. Dual axle cams have a greater range to help you get the right placement the first time. The expanded range means that you need fewer units to cover a large range of crack sizes.
The ergonomic thumb press allows you to have an extendible sling built into the cam without sacrificing strength. The compact size means that there is less to get in the way of a good placement when you’re pumped or fumbling with thick gloves in winter. The extendible sling will reduce the number of quickdraws and additional slings necessary on your rack freeing up space and weight for other things. It will also speed up placements to keep your mental game going strong.
Adhering to the tried, tested, and trusted 13.75° camming angle, the Dragons offer the ideal balance between holding power and range. The Dragon's low weight does not compromise their strength – they are rated to a huge 14kN from size 1 upward and the additional material in the lobes has improved their resistance to deformation. Color-coded cams that match other brands' coding means that you can easily incorporate them into an existing rack.
