Thin Shell (EPS)
Thin Shell (EPS) helmets are industry standard for snowsports helmets and come certified for skate, bike and snow use. EPS stands for expanded polystyrene so these helmets look like tough polystyrene with a plastic shell bolted to the outside. Your helmet should have a label inside stating its construction. If not, check the image below to see if it looks the same as your helmet.
EPS helmets have male poppers on the inside of the helmet and female poppers on the helmet liner. Thin Shell (EPS) helmets should have the word 'Sink Fit' written on the back of the helmet. Thin Shell (EPS) is available in the Bern Baker, Watts, Macon, Muse, Lenox and Brighton.
Hard Hat (Brock Foam)
Hard Hat (Brock Foam) is unique to Bern ad is a porous, more maliable impact foam with a tough plastic shell attached to it. Brock Foam keeps you cooler as it is breathable and allows moisture to exit through it helping you stay dry too. Your helmet should have a label inside stating its construction. If not, check the image below to see if it looks the same as your helmet.
Hard Hats have male poppers on the inside of the helmet and female poppers on the liner. Hard Hats should have the words 'Hard Hat' written on the back of the helmet. Hard Hat (Brock Foam) is available in the Bern Baker, Watts, Macon, Muse, Lenox and Brighton.

What Liners Are Available?
Bern make lots of liners allowing you to wear your helmet all season, from warm summer skate sessions to cold winter skiing and snowboarding. Check out the available liners below for more information.
Summer Liner
Summer liners allow you to wear your helmet when the weather is warmer. Whether it's sunny skate sessions or warm cycle rides, summer liners offer great comfort. Summer liners come in Thin Shell (EPS) and Zip Mold constructions. Hard Hats don't need a summer liner as it is built in to the helmet is isn't removeable.
Summer Visor Liner
Summer Visor liners are the same as summer liners but with a stiff basebal cap style peak at the front. This helps keep the sun out of your eyes and the peak can be worn down like a traditional baseball cap or flipped up like a retro styled cycling cap. Summer Visor liners are only suitable for unpeaked Bern helmets including Macon, Brentwood, G2, Brighton, Berkeley and Cougar 2.
Winter Liner
Winter liners feature earpads that cover more of your face and head to help keep you warm when skiing and snowboarding. They also cover the gap between your goggles and helmet to stop that horrible cold draught! Men's winter liners are fleece lined whereas women's winter liners are faux fur lined. All of our Bern winter liners come with a goggle clip as well to keep your goggles secure.
Winter Visor Liner
Winter Visor liners feature the same earpads as regular winter liners but with the addition of a peak. This peak can either be soft and flexible or stiff like a baseball cap. Check the individual listing to check which one it is. These liners also come with a goggle clip. Winter Visor liners are only suitable for unpeaked Bern helmets including Macon, Brentwood, G2, Brighton, Berkeley and Cougar 2.
Winter Audio Liner
Some people like to listen to music whilst they ski or snowboard. With the Bern winter audio liner you can do just that. The liners are exactly the same as the regular winter liner but with a small speaker inside each earpad. The liner has a cable which connects to any 3.5mm audio device such as an MP3 player or phone. The cable also has an inline volume control so you can turn the music down when talking to people. These liners also come with a goggle clip.
