Icebreaker

Icebreaker create a range of technical and natural performance apparel for outdoor sports and activities, pioneering ethical and sustainable production standards in the process
Icebreaker was created by 24-year-old Jeremy Moon in 1995 in New Zealand. His aim was to provide garments for outdoor adventures with less reliance on petrochemical fibres, providing a more sustainable future for us and the planet. But back then, synthetics were king, so convincing people was going to be far from easy....

As of today, 95% of Icebreakers’ total fibre composition is merino wool or plant-based. The company continue to research and develop bio-based alternatives for elastane, nylon and polyester, looking to nature for the answers and for innovative ways to do more with less.

Working with what nature provides and adapting as nature does, Icebreaker enables consumers to join a movement towards choosing natural and preserving our planet for generations to come. They continue to challenge the status quo by championing natural, transparent, and responsible ways to do business.

Purpose

To lead a movement towards a more natural way of living by taking unnecessary plastic out of performance apparel. Driven by the belief that nature has the solutions, Icebreaker provide natural performance alternatives to synthetic-based apparel to create a healthier more sustainable future for our species and the planet.

Philosophy
