Birkenstock

Founded in 1774, Birkenstock's success is rooted in its commitment to combining orthopedically inspired footwear with timeless designs.
Birkenstock have developed their range of footwear to provide excellent comfort, high functionality and extraordinary quality. Using high quality materials from sustainable sources, Birkenstock's footwear is built to last.

In 1896, Master cobbler Konrad Birkenstock, who ran two specialty shoe stores in Frankfurt, begins manufacturing and selling flexible footbed insoles. In 1925 in Friedberg, Hesse, a larger factory with extensive grounds is purchased and expanded. A greater demand was becoming clear. The “blue footbed” is among the products manufactured at this time. Fast-forward a few years to 1963, Carl Birkenstock launches the Madrid model, the first fitness sandal with a deep and flexible footbed, thereby laying the foundation for today’s comfort footwear market.

Today, Birkenstock's new lines focus on four themes that perfectly complement their brands ethos: healthy living and sleeping, healthy workplaces, healthy feet, as well as running and a healthy approach to life. They even released a new range of sleep systems in 2017 to compliment, using all their expertise and knowledge in comfortable systems and technologies.

At the core of all of their products, Birkenstock use their unique, anatomically shaped footbed to ensure comfort that lasts all day long.
